Happy birthday, hubby!

Today was my dearest husband's birthday, and this is what we did!

Had a real tasty birthday breakfast.

Had a tasty birthday cake: vegan strawberry cheesecake!

Spent the night celebrating at the newly opened Pohlmanns food bar.

Helped out with Underkultur and spent time with the always wonderful Sondre and Michelle!

Now we are both completely exhausted and very ready for bed.
Daniel has a job interview tomorrow! All limbs crossed, I am very confident.
Also, I am meant to have a stall at a market in a city nearby, but I will have to see what my body allows me to do.
We shall see!

Loads of love,
Malin

The deal with the application - so far

So, as I mentioned, these last few months have been incredibly stressful.
Spending every day worrying about whether the person you love more than anything in the world will be able to be by your side in the near future, or even in the same country as you, takes it's toll.
Luckily we've both been good at staying positive, and luckily we have each other to vent to, and to pull each other back up when we fall down. We've both been so worried and stressed that it has affected us physically, but then the other one of us has always been there to take care.

Even though this situation sucks, I feel so lucky and endlessly happy that I have Daniel, and I am so thankful for what a great husband he is.

For those of you who don't know, this is a short summary of our application history:
  • We scheduled an appointment to apply for an EEA residence card fo Daniel, and got one the 8th of January at the local police district.
  • We handed in all our relevant paperwork, and was told the application was complete and would take 6-8 weeks to process.
  • After about 10 weeks, I contacted the police district to check up on the application, and I was told there had been a lot of absence in the offices due to illness, so everything was a bit delayed.
  • After another 2 weeks after that, I called the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration to ask some questions regarding the application, and I was told it had been sent to them because our situation was a bit too complicated for the police to know what to do with. We got some answers cleared up and was told the goal was to have the application processed within 4 months after the hand-in.
  • This week I called to clear up something else, and was told the application had been sent back to the police district again so that they could interview us, as the police district failed to tell us that we had to attach a questionnaire about our relationship to our application.
  • It has now been 3 months, 4 weeks and 4 days, and we are still waiting just to be interviewed.
I do realize that in a lot of situations, the waiting time is a lot longer, and the conditions are generally worse. We are renting a room in my mums house, we have enough money for food, and we have each other, our lovely pets and family and friends around us.
But when it's about being with the love of your life or not, not knowing what is going to happen, and knowing that your lives can turn around completely just from opening a letter, waiting without knowing is really difficult.
We want to get our completely own place, we want to get steady incomes, I want to keep on studying, we want to travel and visit our family and friends elsewhere in the world. We want to start living our life as a married couple. But we can't do any of this properly, 100%, before we know the result of the application.

Like I said though, we are staying positive, we are hoping for the best, and we do have a plan b.
It's just difficult to not know.
But as long as we can be together, we're both very happy!

Busy bee

I'm so sorry for the lack of posting the last few weeks, everyone!

It's been super hectic, I have moved out of my house in London, and I'm back in Norway with my dearest husband.

I won't be posting too much in the near future either, but keep on popping by and I'll get back on track soon enough, and I'll update everyone about what's going on with me, us, Daniel's application, our travel plans and so on!

For now, enjoy a weird little summary of photos from the last few weeks! There's been:
Loads of cuddles with my super adorable little rat babes.

A day trip to Leeds city!

A little tattoo session with the amazingly awesome and super talented Rebecca Vincent.

Fringe cuts and relaxing.

Best friend's exhibition at uni.

Danni's little gig at the Cricket Jam.

Loads more rat cuddles!

The Lupins gig, where I got to say goodbye to my friend Will.

A (not very successful) yard sale.

My farewell party! With loads of good friends at the adorable Pickle pup!

A lovely farewell dinner with the closest at Wagamama. Yummmm.

Shitloads of packing, sorting, throwing away shit and giving away stuff.

A sweet welcome home! Sign by my dear little sister.

Loads of hubby cuddles and laughs. We're both goofballs.

Also, yummy vegan donut cupcakes! That we enjoyed on our 3 month wedding anniversary. And are still enjoying as I made a big batch!

Stay tuned!

Loads of love,
Malin

Holidays

I'm so sorry about the lack of posts the last two weeks!
We've been busy with family, celebration, eating tons of good food, seeing friends, going on a cabin trip up in the mountains, relaxing, enjoying our christmas presents, playing with our new iPad, getting into The Sims again, figuring out what to do, figuring out solutions and cuddling.

We finally have a plan that looks real good, and we can take it easy for now!
We have an appointment for the application at the police station on Tuesday, and hopefully it'll go smoothly.

We had a real nice, cosy and busy christmas eve with my mum, little sister, uncle, aunt, cousins and my aunt's mum. My cousins are only 4 and 6 and they are all over the place, so we had tuns of energy draining fun with them, before we had a real tasty dinner all together! And there were of course presents!

In between christmas and new years, we went up to Gautefall with 10 other friends for a few days. It was very nice and fun, loads of snow and a great cabin!
And on new years eve we cooked some nice food and had a small pot luck dinner at our friend Arja's place with most of our lovely bunch. We had loads of fun, loads of nice talks, while we listened to good music. Right before midnight we headed down to the river to watch the fireworks from there. It was a real good evening, and I'm lucky I was surrounded by all those awesome people.

I hope everyone had a good holiday and had fun celebrating new years! I wish everyone a very happy and fantastic new year!

Loads of love,
Malin

The Freedom Experiment

I wanna give you guys a little tip.
You see, my beautiful, lovely friend Marthe has the most amazing blog.
A blog really worth reading!
She is an amazing person, an amazing writer, and a big inspiration to me.
She writes mostly about lifestyle, personal development and dreaming big, and her aim with the blog is to help people with exactly those things!

Her blog is called The Freedom Experiment, and in her own words, it is about
"...giving yourself the freedom to be you. It’s about making tough choices, taking control, and following your dreams."

 The Freedom Experiment

She is currently located in Los Angeles, California, to work on her blog, and study life coaching. Which I personally think she would be perfect for!

She is an absolute sweetheart, and she gave me a free copy of her newly published eBook, Feeling Good when Life is Hard. I just started it, and it is absolutely amazing.

I highly suggest checking out her blog and buying a copy of her eBook for some inspirational reading!

Visit her blog here!

Malin

Flying home for christmas

I'm back in Norway! Back home, back with my hubby!
After a really nice visit from Bjørnar, My and Lotte.
Bjørnar, My and I didn't sleep all night before we left for the aiport, as we had to leave at 3.15am.
I slept on the bus ride to the airport, and on the plane. And took some random photos.

It was nice to land in beautiful, snowy Norway, in nice and fresh air.

I got worn out big time from the trip, and now I'm ill again. Gah!
But it's so so nice to be back with my wonderful husband again.

We already had tickets for The Hobbit at 6pm on Saturday, and we were both super excited to see it.

It was so amazing!

We spent this day relaxing, and watching The Fellowship of the Ring.
Gonna keep on relaxing, keeping warm, cuddling and watching movies till I feel well again. And that is absolutely fine with me!

Loads of love,
Malin

Thursday, 13 December 2012

Since last time I've been ill again, very, very tired, stressed, and had a lot on my mind!
I had a photo shoot with Mayors of Miyazaki on Saturday, and it turned out great! We had a great time, and it was a fun photo shoot. I'm working on the photos, I took a bunch of digital photos, some polaroids, and some with my awesome Hasselblad. I'll put some up once they're approved by the Mayors eventually!
They gave me two bottles of fine red wine for the job, so nice!

I've also been trying to work things out with school. I'll put up a longer post about this soon. It's very complicated stuff, ugh.

Other than this, I've been taking care of a sick little rat babe, done a tiny bit of christmas shopping the days I've been able to get out of the house, relaxed a bunch (as always), been really, really cold and done a whole bunch of knitting.

I'm going back to Norway tomorrow morning, to spend the christmas vacation with my wonderful husband, and my family. Excited!

Loads of love,
Malin
